A motorbike rider has been arrested in Lambeth for immigration offences after officers from the Metropolitan Police seized their vehicle — the second such seizure during the same police shift.
The incident was confirmed on social media by Lambeth North-West Police, who said the rider was detained and will now be handed over to UK Border Force for further investigation and processing.
“Insp Watson” shared the update on X (formerly Twitter), stating:
“Second seizure of the shift and the rider has also been arrested for immigration offences and will now be handed over to @UKBorder to deal.”
While further details about the rider’s identity or the circumstances of the vehicle stop have not yet been released, the arrest forms part of ongoing efforts by the Metropolitan Police to crack down on illegal vehicles and immigration-related offences across London.
Police frequently run joint operations with UK Border Force and other agencies to identify individuals breaching immigration laws, particularly where they coincide with road traffic violations or criminal activity.
Residents in Lambeth have praised local officers for their visible policing and swift action, with some taking to social media to thank them for “keeping our streets safer.”
The Metropolitan Police and UK Border Force have not yet commented further, but the investigation into the individual’s immigration status is ongoing.
Anyone with concerns about immigration crime can report it anonymously via Crimestoppers or by contacting the Home Office Immigration Enforcement team.
