A major emergency search operation is underway this evening after reports of a missing swimmer in Dover Harbour.

The operation has been ongoing for more than two hours, involving multiple agencies including HM Coastguard, Kent Police, and lifeboat crews.
The Dover Lifeboat, Walmer Lifeboat, and a coastguard helicopter have all been deployed to the scene.
Witnesses reported seeing boats scanning the water while the helicopter hovered above the harbour.
A witness at the scene told UK News in Pictures:
It’s for a missing swimmer reported missing in Dover Harbour. Dover Lifeboat and Walmer Lifeboat, plus the coastguard helicopter, are here. The helicopter has now gone to refuel at Lydd.
Emergency services have confirmed their involvement but have not yet released further details regarding the identity of the swimmer or the circumstances leading to the search.
The coastguard helicopter was seen departing to Lydd for refuelling before expectedly returning to continue supporting the search efforts.
