Three men have been jailed for a series of violent robberies in Mayfair that saw victims threatened and high-value watches forcibly stolen in broad daylight.
The incidents took place across Stratton Street and Brewer Street on June 25 and 26, 2024, prompting a large-scale investigation by the Metropolitan Police.
Robbers Tracked Victims in Wealthy Mayfair Area
During the investigation, police found that the suspects – Tedros Haile (35), Mahad Jammeh (24), and Christian Whittingham (27) – had conducted surveillance on members of the public, targeting individuals wearing expensive watches.
Three people were approached and threatened by the group. Two watches were stolen, and officers say all victims were left shaken by the level of violence.
Haile, of Fulham Palace Road, pleaded guilty to one count of robbery and was later found guilty of a second robbery and one attempted robbery.
Jammeh, of Beaconsfield Road, and Whittingham, of Granville Road, each pleaded guilty to three robbery charges.
Arrests, Evidence and Sentencing
The trio were arrested on July 30, 2024, after police identified them through CCTV footage and vehicle tracking. Clothing linked to the crimes was also recovered, supporting forensic connections to the offences.
- Tedros Haile was sentenced to 11 years in prison at Southwark Crown Court on April 17, 2025.
- Mahad Jammeh received 8 years’ imprisonment on the same day.
- Christian Whittingham was sentenced to 10 years and 6 months on June 20, 2025.
Police Statement
Detective Inspector Lizzie Beeston said:
“Our investigation has ensured three violent offenders have been removed from our streets.
Every robbery has a significant and lasting effect on victims. Tackling violent crime is a Met priority.”
She highlighted the force’s New Met for London Plan, which includes the deployment of localised proactive teams focused on reducing street robberies.
