A man in his 50s has been rushed to hospital after being stabbed in the chest near a petrol station in Crystal Palace.
The incident occurred on Wednesday afternoon (March 19) near the Shell petrol station forecourt on Crystal Palace Parade, prompting a swift response from emergency services. The area has since been cordoned off as police carry out their investigation.
Metropolitan Police officers were called to the scene at approximately 2.30pm following reports of a serious assault.
A police spokesperson said:
“Police were called at 2.30pm on Wednesday, 19 March to Crystal Palace Parade, SE19, following a serious assault. A man in his 50s was taken to hospital after sustaining a stab wound to his chest. His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
Officers remain in the area and no arrests have been made at this stage.”
London Ambulance Service (LAS) confirmed that paramedics, an incident response officer, and London’s Air Ambulance were all dispatched to the scene.
An LAS spokesperson said:
“We were called today (Wednesday 19) at 2.47pm to reports of a stabbing in Crystal Palace Parade, SE19. We treated a man at the scene before taking him to a major trauma centre in London.”
The motive behind the attack remains unclear, and no arrests have been made. Police are urging anyone with information or who witnessed the incident to come forward.
The stabbing has sparked concern among local residents, with many alarmed by the ongoing issue of knife crime in the capital.
