Jacob Lee, a resident of Pilgrims Way in Salford, has been sentenced to 11 years in jail after pleading guilty to the kidnap and sexual assault of a 15-year-old girl. The incident occurred as the girl was walking along Princes Avenue in Salford on the evening of Tuesday, November 29, 2022.
According to the court proceedings, Lee approached the girl from behind and forcibly dragged her away. He then proceeded to sexually assault her and attempted to strangle her. However, the brave victim managed to fight off her attacker and escape, promptly reporting the incident to the police.
Following the report, officers from Salford launched an immediate investigation. Through diligent forensic work and the recovery of key evidence at the scene, Lee was identified, arrested, and subsequently charged with the crimes.
The evidence compiled by the officers during their investigation was compelling enough for Lee to plead guilty to the charges of kidnap and strangulation. As a result, he has been sentenced to 11 years in jail. The judge, during the sentencing hearing, described Lee as a dangerous offender who poses a significant risk to women.
Detective Constable Stuart Bentley of GMP Salford Division commended the young victim and her family for their strength and bravery in reporting the incident to the police. He expressed satisfaction in the hard work and dedication of the investigative team, which led to the conviction and imprisonment of the dangerous offender. The outcome of this case ensures justice for the victim and helps protect other women and girls from potential harm.
DC Bentley also emphasised the importance of encouraging other victims to come forward and report incidents of sexual assault. He assured the public that Greater Manchester Police takes all reports of such crimes seriously and provides support to victims throughout the investigation process.
