A man has pleaded guilty to multiple traffic offences following a pursuit in Faversham. The incident began at around 10:15 am on Monday, 23 September 2024, when a Kent Police motorcyclist signalled for the driver of a flatbed truck to stop as it travelled along the A2 London Road. However, the vehicle failed to stop, leading to a police pursuit.
During the pursuit, the driver of the truck reversed into two police vehicles, causing damage and resulting in an officer sustaining cuts and bruises. The flat-bed vehicle was later found abandoned in Athelstan Road at around 11:20 am, and the driver, Frazer Higgins, was located nearby and subsequently arrested.
On Tuesday, 1 October, Higgins, 31, of Canterbury Road, Margate, was charged with multiple offences, including two counts of dangerous driving, two counts of driving while disqualified, two counts of no insurance, and fraudulently using a registration mark. He pleaded guilty to all charges at Medway Magistrates’ Court on the following day and has been remanded for sentencing at Maidstone Crown Court on a date yet to be confirmed.
Detective Inspector Martin Davies thanked the local community for their assistance in the investigation. He stated, “I would like to thank the members of the public who responded to our appeal for information following this incident. The response from Faversham residents was outstanding and proved crucial to our investigation.
The sentencing hearing will determine the consequences of Higgins’ dangerous actions, which not only put officers at risk but also endangered public safety.
