A murder investigation is underway after a man was killed in a suspected deliberate hit-and-run in Woolton, Liverpool late on Friday night.
Emergency services were called to a residential street at around 11.45pm on April 18 following reports that a 47-year-old man had been struck by a vehicle. He was rushed to hospital by paramedics, but despite their efforts, he tragically died from his injuries shortly after arrival.
Merseyside Police have confirmed that the incident is being treated as a potential murder, and a 41-year-old man has been arrested at the scene on suspicion of murder.
Car Seized and Investigation Underway
Detective Inspector Katie Coote of Merseyside Police said:
“Our investigation into this incident is in its very early stages, but it does appear the car was deliberately driven at the man. Despite the best efforts of the people who came to his aid and those of paramedics, he sadly passed away in hospital.”
“Our thoughts remain with his family at this tragic time and specially trained officers are supporting them.”
Police have seized the vehicle believed to be involved in the collision and are conducting forensic checks as part of the ongoing investigation.

Authorities are now appealing for witnesses and anyone with CCTV, dash cam, or doorbell footage from the Woolton area around the time of the incident to come forward.
“We have launched a full investigation and urge anyone who saw what happened, or who may have relevant footage, to contact us as soon as possible,” added DI Coote.
