Adrian Russell Coxon, a 48-year-old resident of St. Mary Close in Pencoed, was arrested in November 2021 following a report from a victim who had been sexually assaulted. Yesterday he appeared in court and received a six-year prison sentence for sexual assault by penetration and the supply of Class C drugs. Additionally, he has been required to sign onto the Sex Offenders Register and is subject to a Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO).
Detective Constable Rebecca Evans, who worked on the case, expressed that while no sentence can fully compensate for the impact Coxon had on the victim, she hopes that the conclusion of this lengthy court process will allow the victim to move forward with their life, knowing that speaking out has exposed Coxon as the sexual offender he is. She also extended gratitude to the victim for their support and immense bravery throughout the investigation.
Detective Constable Evans emphasised the seriousness of sexual offences and encouraged others to report such incidents. The devastating impact of sexual assault is well understood, and the police always treat reports of this nature with the utmost confidentiality and sensitivity.
