A man has been taken to hospital following a collision involving two lorries on the M2 this morning, causing major disruption on the coastbound carriageway. The crash, which occurred just before 8:00 AM, has resulted in significant tailbacks, with three out of four lanes closed between Junction 2 (A228 Sundridge Hill for Strood and Rochester) and Junction 3 (Chatham and Rochester).
Emergency services, including officers from Kent Police and paramedics, responded to the incident at 7:47 AM.
A spokesperson for Kent Police confirmed:
We were called to a collision involving two lorries on the coastbound carriageway of the M2 between junctions 2 and 3. Officers and paramedics attended the scene, where a man was treated for injuries and taken to a local hospital for further medical attention.
As a result of the crash, there are six-mile-long tailbacks, with congestion stretching back to Junction 1 for Strood. The Wainscott bypass has also seen heavy traffic as drivers face long delays.
Motorists are advised to avoid the area if possible while recovery efforts are underway, with the affected lanes expected to remain closed for several hours.
