Tragedy struck in Croydon as a 17-year-old man faces charges for the murder of 15-year-old Elianne Andam. The unnamed teenager will appear at the youth court in Croydon Magistrates’ Court on Friday, September 29, charged with murder and possession of a knife.
Police responded swiftly to a stabbing incident on Wellesley Road around 08:30 BST on September 27. Within two minutes of the call, officers were on the scene, collaborating with emergency services to administer first aid. Despite their efforts, Elianne tragically lost her life at the scene.
Homicide detectives from the Met’s Specialist Crime Command initiated an investigation, leading to the arrest of a 17-year-old male in New Addington approximately 75 minutes after the incident. He has since been charged with murder and possession of a knife.
On September 28, police recovered a knife on Cedar Road, Croydon, furthering the evidence in the case. Elianne’s grieving family is receiving support from specially trained officers during this difficult time.
