Default Heading H1
A man has been charged with murder following the fatal stabbing of Tyler Hayward, 26, on Chingford Mount Road on Sunday night (6 July).
Peshman Ahmedi, 22, of no fixed address, was formally charged with murder today (Thursday) and is set to appear in custody at Willesden Magistrates’ Court later this morning.
The charge follows a major police investigation launched after Tyler was found fatally wounded outside a Wetherspoon’s pub at 9:14pm on Sunday. Despite the efforts of emergency services, he died at the scene.
Ahmedi was arrested on Tuesday, 8 July, after police carried out extensive enquiries, including a dramatic operation that saw a DFDS ferry returning to the Port of Dover, where officers boarded the ship and detained the suspect.
Chingford Mount Road remained cordoned off for three days while forensic teams and detectives worked at the scene. A blue and white forensic tent was erected near the site of the attack, as police appealed for witnesses and CCTV.
Family Tribute to “Beautiful Soul”
In a heartbreaking statement released earlier this week, Tyler Hayward’s family said:
“We are struggling with the tragic loss of Tyler, a beautiful soul with the kindest of hearts.
A much-loved son, grandson and brother, that will be missed immensely.
We would appreciate privacy at this time whilst we come to terms with our loss.”
