Detectives investigating the fatal shooting of a teenage boy in Stockwell have charged a man with murder.
Omar Prempeh, 32, of Stanstead Road, Forest Hill, was formally charged on Saturday, 8 March, with the murder of 16-year-old Lathaniel Burrell.
Lathaniel, a resident of Stockwell, was fatally shot on Tuesday, 4 March, in Paradise Road, SW4. Emergency services rushed to the scene, but despite their efforts, he was pronounced dead.
The Metropolitan Police confirmed that Lathaniel’s family is being supported by specialist officers as they continue to grieve their loss.
Prempeh is set to appear at Bromley Magistrates’ Court on Monday, 10 March.
Authorities are urging anyone with information related to the incident to come forward. Witnesses or those with knowledge of the case are encouraged to call 101, quoting reference 4116/04MAR. Alternatively, individuals wishing to remain anonymous can contact Crimestoppers at 0800 555 111.
The investigation remains ongoing as officers from the Met’s Specialist Crime Command work to establish the full circumstances surrounding the shooting.
