In a significant development in the case of missing Edinburgh woman Khasha Smith, police have arrested and charged a 39-year-old man in connection with her death. Khasha, 35, was last seen alive during a FaceTime call on October 10, 2023. Although her body has not yet been recovered, authorities now believe she is deceased based on the evidence gathered throughout the investigation.
The suspect is set to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court on Monday, September 9, 2024. Detective Chief Inspector Bob Williamson, who is leading the case, extended condolences to Khasha’s family and emphasized the continued efforts of the investigation team.
“Our thoughts remain with Khasha’s family at this extremely difficult time. They are understandably devastated, and it is vital we get answers for them,” DCI Williamson stated.
The police have urged the public to come forward with any information, stressing that even seemingly small details may be crucial to the investigation. Authorities are continuing to work tirelessly to trace Khasha.
