A 32-year-old man has been charged in connection with a shooting incident in Dalston that left a nine-year-old girl seriously injured.
Javon Reily, of Farnborough Road, Farnborough, appeared at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Saturday, August 10. He is facing four counts of attempted murder.
The charges stem from an incident that occurred earlier this week, where the young girl was caught in the crossfire during a violent altercation. She was rushed to the hospital with serious injuries and remains in critical condition.
Reily was arrested following an intensive investigation by the Metropolitan Police, who described the attack as “shocking and senseless.” The police have confirmed that their inquiries are ongoing as they work to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident.
Reily has been remanded in custody and is due to appear at the Old Bailey later this month. The case has prompted renewed calls for action to address gun violence in the area.
The community in Dalston has expressed its outrage and concern over the incident, with local leaders calling for increased police presence and support for affected families.
The Metropolitan Police have urged anyone with information about the shooting to come forward and assist with their inquiries.
