A man arrested on suspicion of murder in connection with the disappearance of missing mum-of-two Nazire Koreli has been released on bail, the Metropolitan Police have confirmed.
The unnamed man, aged in his 50s, was arrested on Sunday evening (March 10) at a residential property. Detectives from Specialist Crime South have been searching the home for several days, continuing to comb the premises for potential evidence and clues regarding the whereabouts of 54-year-old Nazire, who has not been seen since September 2024.
Despite her last known sighting several months ago, Nazire was only reported missing to police on 28 February 2025, prompting an urgent investigation into her disappearance.
Nazire is described as being of slim build, with light brown hair and olive skin. She is believed to have had a close circle of friends and acquaintances in the Bexley area, and detectives are now calling on the public to come forward with any information that may help locate her.
Detective Chief Inspector Wayne Jolley, leading the investigation, said:
“Since receiving this report, our officers have made multiple enquiries to locate Nazire. We are keeping an open mind, and this is currently being managed as a missing person investigation.”
“Officers arrested a man in connection with Nazire’s disappearance. He has since been released on bail pending further enquiries.”
“Nazire had many friends and acquaintances in the Bexley area, so we are particularly interested in hearing from anyone who may have seen her between September 2024 and March 2025.”
Specialist teams remain at the property where the man was arrested, continuing detailed forensic searches. Police have not ruled out foul play and say the investigation remains active and ongoing.
Anyone with information about Nazire Koreli’s whereabouts or anything that may assist the investigation is urged to contact Met Police on 101 or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
