A 56-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a 48-year-old woman was found dead at a residential property in Cefn Cribwr, near Bridgend, South Wales.
South Wales Police were called to Bryn Terrace just after 9:15pm on Friday (April 18) following reports of concern for the welfare of two individuals inside a house.
Upon arrival, officers discovered the woman inside the property. She was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.
The suspect, a man from Pyle, a village located less than two miles from the incident, was found inside the address and detained by officers. He was later arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in police custody as the investigation continues.
Detective Chief Inspector Lianne Rees, who is leading the inquiry, confirmed the woman’s death is being treated as suspicious, but reassured the public that no other individuals are being sought in connection with the incident.
"Our thoughts remain with the family and friends of the woman who has died," said DCI Rees. "We are continuing to carry out inquiries, and support is being provided to the next of kin during this difficult time."
A police presence remains at the scene as forensic investigations are underway.
