Police have arrested a man in connection with a serious overnight assault that occurred in the Fort Road area of Bangor. The incident took place on Friday evening, June 7.
Detective Sergeant Dougherty reported that officers responded to a call at approximately 10.55pm. Upon arrival, they found a man in his 40s lying unconscious on the road, suffering from a significant head injury. Immediate medical attention was provided at the scene, and the victim was subsequently transported to the hospital. He remains in serious condition.
Shortly after the incident, police arrested a 41-year-old man at a nearby property. The suspect is being held on suspicion of attempted murder and other related offences, including possession of an offensive weapon with intent to commit an indictable offence.
