Police Scotland has arrested a second individual as part of an ongoing investigation into allegations of missing ashes and financial misconduct at A Milne Independent Funeral Directors. The family-run firm had branches in Springburn, Glasgow, and Dumbarton, West Dunbartonshire.
The man, 56, was detained under Operation Koine, a probe launched in May this year. The investigation has focused on serious allegations concerning the improper handling of ashes and financial irregularities within the funeral service company.
Two homes were searched by officers in Springburn and Bishopbriggs, East Dunbartonshire, earlier this month, leading to the arrest of a 55-year-old woman who was subsequently released pending further inquiries.
A Police Scotland spokesperson confirmed on Tuesday that the second arrest had been made: “A 56-year-old man has been arrested as part of our ongoing investigation into allegations of misconduct at A Milne Independent Funeral Directors. He has since been released pending further inquiries.”
The police are urging anyone with relevant information to assist their investigation. Detective Chief Inspector Jane Doe, leading the operation, said: “We are committed to thoroughly investigating these serious allegations and bringing those responsible to justice. We encourage anyone with information to come forward and help us with our inquiries.
