In a swift operation, Merseyside Police arrested an 18-year-old man who attempted to check into a Liverpool city centre hotel with a 13-year-old girl. The incident occurred in the early hours of Monday, July 1st, after hotel staff raised suspicions.
Earlier that morning, the suspect had tried to book another hotel, but staff at that establishment refused him a room due to their inability to verify his details. Undeterred, he proceeded to a second hotel, where officers apprehended him along with the young girl.
The suspect is now in custody at a police station in Merseyside, facing suspicion of a sexual offence involving a female. Meanwhile, a police scene remains in place at the hotel as investigations continue.
Detective Inspector Stephen Croasdale emphasised the importance of vigilance within the hospitality industry. He stated, “Through targeted training, hotel staff now have a better understanding of exploitation and its implications. Recognising the signs and taking action to protect vulnerable individuals is crucial.”
Croasdale encouraged hotel staff and the public to report any sex offences promptly. “We have a dedicated team ready to compassionately handle reports,” he added, “and we remain committed to bringing offenders to justice
