A major emergency has erupted in Chippenham tonight, with a massive response from emergency services. The drama unfolded at around 7.30pm on Gladstone Road, close to The Bridge House pub.
Air Ambulance and Specialist Teams Rush to the Scene
Wilshire and Bath Air Ambulance were scrambled alongside multiple ambulance crews and the specialist Hazardous Area Response Team (HART) from Bristol. Firefighters also arrived in force, with around 12 fire appliances from Wiltshire, joined by Avon Fire and Rescue Service.
One Person Injured After Suspected Fall
Emergency crews found one casualty on an embankment directly below the Gladstone Road Bridge. It’s suspected the individual fell from a height. Medics treated the victim on scene, then winched them up on a stretcher to safety. The injured person was rushed to the hospital for urgent care.
Road Closures and Police Cordons in Place
- Gladstone Road is closed in both directions
- Police cordoned off Chippenham Radial Gate and Lovers Walk
- Approximately 25 emergency vehicles on site at peak
