A major emergency response has been launched following reports of a large fire on Sutton Court Road in Plaistow, east London, with six fire engines deployed to the scene amid reports of people trapped inside.
The London Fire Brigade was first mobilised at 12:30pm on Monday, 19 May 2025, to Sutton Court Road, in East London, after receiving multiple 999 calls reporting smoke issuing from a property.
The first appliances were on scene within minutes, followed by additional units to escalate the response.
Ongoing Firefighting Efforts
Numerous fire crews from across east London were dispatched, including appliances from Plaistow and surrounding stations. Firefighters in breathing apparatus were seen entering the property as dense smoke continued to billow from the structure.
Emergency services, including Fire Investigation Units (FIU) and London Ambulance Service, are on standby as the situation develops.
Smoke and Safety Warning
Local residents have been urged to keep windows and doors closed due to thick smoke in the area. Transport routes near Sutton Court Road may be disrupted due to emergency vehicle access.
As of now, no confirmed casualties have been reported, though fire crews are continuing to search the property. It is not yet known how the blaze started.
A full investigation will be launched once the fire is under control.
