A significant blaze has engulfed two terraced houses on Third Avenue in Dagenham today, prompting a large-scale response from the London Fire Brigade.
Approximately 100 firefighters, backed by fifteen fire engines from Barking, Hornchurch, Leytonstone, and nearby stations, are battling the intense flames that erupted at 1:33 PM.
Station Commander Darren McTernan, overseeing the firefighting efforts, reported from the scene, stating, “Crews are working hard to bring the fire under control.” He urged local residents to keep windows and doors shut to avoid the smoke billowing from the site and advised motorists and the public to steer clear of the area due to road closures and heavy congestion.
The fire has generated considerable concern, with the Brigade’s Control Officers receiving around 50 calls regarding the incident.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation, and further updates are expected as emergency services continue their efforts to manage the situation.
