A major fire has broken out on Watford Way in Mill Hill, prompting a significant emergency response from the London Fire Brigade (LFB).
Fire in Commercial Properties with Flats Above
At least ten fire engines and around 70 firefighters are battling the blaze, which has engulfed a row of commercial properties with residential flats above. The fire has caused severe disruption in the area, with firefighters working through the early hours to bring it under control.
A 32-metre ladder has been deployed as part of the response, assisting crews in tackling the flames from above.
Multiple Emergency Calls Received
The first emergency call was received at 12:46 AM, with at least 13 calls coming in from concerned residents and passersby. Fire crews from Mill Hill, Hendon, Finchley, and other nearby stations were immediately mobilised to the scene.
Uncertain Cause & Ongoing Response
The cause of the fire remains unknown, and investigations are expected to begin once the flames are fully extinguished.
A London Fire Brigade spokesperson said:
Our crews are working tirelessly to contain the fire and prevent further spread. We urge people in the area to keep windows and doors closed due to heavy smoke and to avoid the scene to allow emergency services full access.”
