Drivers on the M25 clockwise in Surrey are facing major delays this morning following a multi-vehicle collision near Cobham Services, which has led to the closure of three out of four lanes between Junction 9 (Leatherhead) and Junction 10 (Guildford).
The incident, reported shortly before 7:30am, has resulted in severe traffic congestion stretching back 10 miles, with motorists warned to expect delays of up to 90 minutes.
Congestion from Reigate to Guildford
According to National Highways, the traffic is queuing as far back as Junction 8 (Reigate). Cameras from the scene show long tailbacks on the clockwise carriageway, with congestion spilling onto local A roads as drivers attempt to divert.
Traffic monitoring service Inrix has confirmed that the lanes remain closed while emergency services attend the scene. The exact number of vehicles involved and the extent of any injuries have not yet been confirmed.
Drivers Urged to Reroute or Delay Travel
A spokesperson for National Highways South-East issued a warning:
“There are long delays due to a collision on the M25 clockwise between J9 and J10. Drivers are advised to delay their journey or find alternative routes where possible.”
Emergency services, including Surrey Police, paramedics, and Highways England incident response teams, are on site. Recovery work and accident investigation are ongoing.
