A medical emergency has forced the closure of the M2 coastbound between Junction 5 (Sittingbourne) and Junction 6 (Faversham), causing major delays for motorists.
Emergency services, including Kent Police, paramedics, and National Highways traffic officers, responded to the incident, which occurred midway along the carriageway near Lynsted.
An air ambulance was deployed and landed at the scene shortly before 6 PM, while multiple ambulances and fire crews were also dispatched.

Motorists caught in the disruption have reported being stationary for nearly an hour.
Traffic Diversions in Place
National Highways has advised drivers to exit the M2 at Junction 5 and take the third exit at the roundabout onto the A249 towards Maidstone before rejoining the motorway further ahead.
Significant congestion has also been reported on the London-bound side of the M2 due to an additional collision in the area.
The air ambulance departed around 6:15 PM, but National Highways does not expect normal traffic flow to resume for several hours.
