The London Ambulance Service has issued a statement following a violent incident involving four men armed with knives and machetes in a Poplar park.
Emergency services were called at 5:46pm on Tuesday, 26 March to reports of a stabbing in Pennyfields Park, located just off East India Dock Road.
An ambulance crew, a paramedic in a fast response car, and an incident response officer were dispatched to the scene. A trauma team from London’s Air Ambulance also responded by car.
A London Ambulance Service spokesperson said:
“The first paramedic arrived in less than five minutes. We treated one patient and took him to a major trauma centre as a priority.”
According to witnesses and footage shared with UK News in Pictures, the shocking scenes unfolded as four men allegedly fought with knives and machetes, hacking at each other in broad daylight. One resident described the scene as “chaotic and terrifying,” with park-goers running for cover as the violence erupted.
The current condition of the injured man remains unknown, and the Metropolitan Police have yet to confirm if any arrests have been made.
A cordon remains in place at Pennyfields Park while investigations continue. Authorities have urged anyone with footage or information to come forward.
