Following a detailed investigation into the tragic death of a baby who died after being bitten by a pet dog in Coventry, detectives have determined that no criminal offences were committed.
Authorities were called to a property on Shorncliffe Road shortly after 3pm on Sunday. Alongside ambulance services, they arrived within minutes. Seven-month-old Elle Doherty had sustained severe head injuries from a bite inflicted by the family’s dog inside their home.
Despite receiving immediate medical attention from paramedics at the scene and being rushed to the hospital, Elle Doherty tragically passed away a short time later. The community is mourning this devastating loss, and heartfelt condolences are extended to her grieving family.
The family’s dog, a Belgian Malinois, was removed from the home on Sunday and has since been humanely euthanised.
The investigation’s findings have been communicated to Elle’s family, and a file is being prepared for the coroner.
Authorities have expressed their deepest sympathies to the family during this profoundly difficult time and have requested that they be allowed to grieve in private.
