A man in his 20s has died after suffering a serious head injury in a fall from height at the junction of Ley Street and Myrtle Road in Ilford.
Emergency services were called to the scene shortly after 4:30pm on Tuesday (July 1). The road was closed to traffic as officers and paramedics responded to the incident.
Despite advanced life support at the scene, the man was later pronounced dead in hospital.
Police: Death Treated as “Unexpected”
A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police said:
“Around 16:30hrs on Tuesday, 1 July, police were called to the junction of Ley Street and Myrtle Road, Ilford, following reports that a person had fallen from a height.
Officers attended with the London Ambulance Service.
A man, aged in his 20s, was taken to hospital, where he was sadly pronounced dead.
The death is being treated as unexpected, and enquiries are ongoing to determine the circumstances.”

The London Ambulance Service (LAS) confirmed that they sent:
- Ambulance crews
- Paramedics in fast response cars
- An incident response officer
- A trauma team from London’s Air Ambulance
The first paramedic arrived within five minutes, and the patient was taken to a major trauma centre as a priority, but sadly could not be saved.
