In a dramatic incident that startled Londoners, two horses charged through the streets of Central London, near Aldwych, causing alarm and concern among witnesses. While the horses are now on the road to recovery, two soldiers remain hospitalized following the unexpected event.
The commotion unfolded on Wednesday, April 24, when a small group of horses, belonging to the British Army’s household cavalry, were spooked by construction work in Belgravia. Reports indicated that building materials dropped from a height startled the horses, causing them to gallop near Tower Bridge and Limehouse Tunnel.
One of the horses was observed to be covered in ‘blood,’ further intensifying the concern among onlookers. Two horses, namely Quaker and Vida, were deemed to be in serious condition and underwent surgery as part of their treatment.
Fortunately, Quaker, a Cavalry black, has exhibited significant improvement and is expected to make a full recovery. However, Vida, a grey, continues to recuperate under close veterinary observation as his wounds heal.
Alongside the horses’ recovery process, two soldiers who were thrown from their saddles during the incident remain hospitalized. While they continue to receive treatment, the British Army has assured the public that they are expected to make a full recovery.
In response to the outpouring of concern and support from the public, a spokesperson for the British Army expressed gratitude and appreciation. They emphasized that healing takes time and requested patience as they provide support to the soldiers and horses during their recovery journey.
The soldiers and horses involved in the incident are receiving the utmost care, ensuring their well-being as they recover from the unexpected ordeal.
As the investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident progresses, authorities are working diligently to determine the cause and prevent similar occurrences in the future.
