A party at a school in Hornchurch descended into chaos on Saturday night (March 22) when a group of youths armed with knives disrupted the event, resulting in two teenagers being stabbed and a police officer injured during the response.
The Metropolitan Police confirmed they were called shortly after 9:00pm to reports of a large fight involving a group on Calbourne Avenue, near the site of the party. The violent scenes have shocked the local community and sparked concern over escalating youth violence in the area.
Three Arrested for Assaulting Emergency Workers
As officers responded to the unfolding incident, they were met with aggression from individuals within the group. Three teenagers were arrested at the scene on suspicion of assaulting emergency workers, after one police officer sustained injuries during the altercation. Fortunately, the officer did not require hospital treatment and was treated at the scene.
Two Teenagers Stabbed and Hospitalised
In a separate but related development, police confirmed that two teenagers were stabbed during the incident and were taken to hospital for treatment. Their injuries are not believed to be life-threatening, but their conditions have not yet been officially confirmed.
School Party Disrupted by Armed Youths
The violence is understood to have erupted after a group of knife-carrying youths disrupted a party being held at a local school, leading to panic among attendees and a rapid police response. Footage from the scene shared on social media shows crowds of young people fleeing the area, with some screaming as they ran from the premises.
Police Appeal for Information
The Met Police have launched an investigation into the incident and are urging anyone who witnessed the fight or has mobile footage to come forward.
A spokesperson said:
“This was a deeply concerning incident involving violence and assaults against emergency service personnel. We are continuing our enquiries and urge anyone with information to contact us immediately.”
