Homes Under The Hammer Celebrates 20 Years Of Property Renovation Entertainment

“Homes Under the Hammer,” the beloved property renovation show that has been a staple of daytime TV, is preparing to mark its 20th anniversary in grand style. Since its debut on BBC One on November 17, 2003, the program has captured the hearts of viewers with its mix of entertainment and expert property advice.

To commemorate this significant milestone, each special anniversary episode will feature a celebrity guest presenter, a new property to explore, and a memorable moment from the show’s extensive archive. The anniversary episodes will air as a double-bill on the actual anniversary date.

The celebrity hosts, all passionate fans of the show, will bring their unique insights and creative ideas to transform the properties on display. The anniversary celebrations will kick off with Martin Roberts and Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen in Bristol, followed by Martel Maxwell and Alex Jones in London. Each celebrity will introduce the iconic phrase, “Let’s find out what happened when it went under the hammer,” before meeting the successful buyers at auction.

Later in the year, viewers can anticipate episodes featuring Dion Dublin and Toyah Wilcox in Birmingham, Jacqui Joseph and Owain Wyn Evans in Wales, and Tommy Walsh with Amanda Lovett in Buckinghamshire.

Over the past two decades, “Homes Under the Hammer” has ventured to various property auction lots across the UK, captivating audiences with auction suspense, renovation drama, exciting reveals, and catchy musical accompaniments. With a remarkable 1,450 episodes to its name, the show continues to be one of BBC One’s most successful programs.

Martin Roberts, one of the original presenters, expressed his pride in being part of such a beloved and enduring show. Dion Dublin, who joined the program nine years ago, described “Homes Under the Hammer” as a “juggernaut” that people continue to adore. Celebrity guests, including Alex Jones, Toyah Wilcox, and Owain Wyn Evans, shared their excitement at being involved in a show they have watched and admired for years.

Muslim Alim, Commissioning Editor Factual Daytime Commissioning, lauded “Homes Under the Hammer” as a factual entertainment triumph and one of BBC Daytime’s heroes. The show’s 20th anniversary will be celebrated with special episodes that revisit favorite past properties, thanks to the rich archive.

Lisa Hazlehurst, Head of Lion Scotland, the production company behind the show, expressed immense pride in “Homes Under the Hammer’s” enduring success and its ability to tap into the nation’s passion for creating homes. She also acknowledged the creative and dedicated teams, both in front of and behind the camera, for their contributions to the show’s success.

The special anniversary episodes of “Homes Under the Hammer” are set to air on Friday, November 17, at 11:15 am on BBC One and will be available on iPlayer. Fans can expect an abundance of entertainment and a celebration of the show’s remarkable journey over the past two decades.
