Helicopter and Police Dog Called in after suspicious activity in Maidstone

Two people from Chatham have been arrested on suspicion of theft following a search using a police dog and the police helicopter in Maidstone. At 2.55am on Tuesday 15 May 2018, Kent Police received a call about suspicious activity near a quad bike in Dickens Road. Officers attended the scene where it was reported a Ford Transit van had left prior to their attendance. The vehicle was subsequently found nearby and a search of the area was completed by local officers, a police dog and the police helicopter. A man aged 25 and a 16-year-old boy were subsequently found on the river Medway towpath near Castle Dene. The man entered the water and was helped out by officers and police dog Parker before being arrested on suspicion of theft, dangerous driving and driving while disqualified. The teenager was arrested nearby on suspicion of theft and driving offences. They were later bailed to return to the police station on 12 June.
