A crime scene has been established this evening after an incident that saw police, paramedics, and an air ambulance called to the area.
Residents reported a large police presence on Matthew Close near the park at around 7pm, with officers cordoning off part of the scene.
Eyewitness Accounts
Local community members said they saw an air ambulance land in Harold Wood Park, with one witness adding it touched down before later departing towards St Peter’s Hospital.
Another resident described a disturbance near flats at the corner of Matthew Close, with police reportedly using a Taser to subdue a man after another person was left injured.
Police Response
The Metropolitan Police has not yet released an official statement, but officers were seen securing the area and directing members of the public away while emergency services worked at the scene.
The condition of the injured person has not yet been confirmed.
Appeal for Information
Police are expected to remain at Harold Wood Park into the evening while enquiries continue.
Anyone with information or footage from the area is urged to contact police on 101 or via the Met Police website.
A London Ambulance Service spokesperson said:
“We were called at 6.11pm today (24 August) to reports of a stabbing on Matthew Close, Harold Wood.
“We sent resources to the scene, including ambulance crews, an incident response officer and London’s Air Ambulance.
“We treated two patients at the scene and took them to hospital.”
A Met Police spokesperson said: “Police were called to a report of a stabbing in Matthews Close, Romford at 6.10pm on Sunday, 24 August.
The victim, a man in his 30s, was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
A 49-year-old man from Havering has been arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm with intent, possession of an offensive weapon, affray and criminal damage. He remains in custody.
