Merseyside Police are hunting a gunman after shots were fired at a property in Old Swan, Liverpool, on Saturday, February 15, 2025.
Shots Fired in Residential Area
Officers were called to Acanthus Road at approximately 3:50 PM after receiving reports of gunfire at a house.
Two men dressed in black were seen fleeing the scene following the attack.
While nobody was injured, police confirmed that the front window of the property was damaged in the incident.
Police Appeal for Witnesses
Detective Chief Inspector Andy McCourt said:
“The investigation is in its very early stages, and officers are currently in the area carrying out CCTV and house-to-house inquiries.
“Thankfully, no one was injured, but this firearms discharge could have had catastrophic consequences.”
McCourt also revealed that people, including children, were inside the house at the time of the shooting, making the incident even more alarming.
“I’m sure the local community will be just as appalled as we are, and I want to reassure them that we are determined to find the people responsible.”
Crackdown on Gun Crime
DCI McCourt reiterated the force’s commitment to tackling gun violence, adding:
“Those involved in serious organised crime are clearly willing to carry and use firearms in Merseyside, but we will be relentless in removing them from our streets.
He also urged residents to come forward with any information that may help catch the suspects:
“Information from the public is vital if we are to break down the organised crime groups who bring misery to our streets.”
“I completely understand that speaking up could be daunting, but when people are willing to support the police, we will ensure every possible avenue is progressed to protect them.”
