An 87-year-old man has died after being violently robbed in Manor House, North London, prompting the Metropolitan Police to launch a murder investigation.
Police were called to Goodchild Road, near Manor House, at 5:53pm on Tuesday, 7 May 2025, following reports of a robbery involving a pensioner. The victim was rushed to hospital with life-threatening injuries, but tragically died on Thursday, 9 May.
A 59-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder and robbery, as well as for a racially aggravated public order offence and assaulting a police officer. He remains in police custody.
Murder Investigation Underway
Detective Chief Inspector Mark Rogers, leading the investigation for the Met’s Specialist Crime North Unit, said:
“This is a horrific incident which very sadly resulted in an innocent man dying. His family are being supported by specialist officers.”
“At this stage, we are not looking for anyone else in connection with the incident. However, this is a fast-paced investigation and we urge anyone who may have witnessed what happened to get in touch.”
Increased Police Presence
Chief Superintendent Brittany Clarke, who oversees local policing in the area, confirmed that patrols have been increased to reassure residents.
“A man has lost his life in a tragic way, and our thoughts remain with his family. If you have any concerns, please speak to officers on patrol.”
