Detectives investigating the murder of Troy Ramsundar in Brixton are renewing their appeal for information. Officers from the Metropolitan Police’s Specialist Crime Command, who are leading the investigation, have released images of a distinctive backpack they are keen to locate.
Key Appeal: Missing Backpack
The item in question is a blue Herschel rucksack featuring brown strapping and a pink or orange striped lining. Police believe the backpack belonged to the suspect and may have been discarded around Brockwell Park.
The suspect was seen entering the park from Brixton Water Lane at 05:15 hrs on Thursday, 20 March, and exiting approximately 30 minutes later at the junction of Norwood Road and Dulwich Road.
Suspect Description
At the time of the incident, the suspect was wearing:
- Dark outer jacket
- Light (possibly grey) hooded top
- Dark face mask
- Dark trousers
- Dark shiny shoes
- Gloves (possibly red/brown)
Witness Appeal: Bus Stop and Park Area
Detectives are particularly keen to hear from anyone who was at the Brixton Road bus stop (bus stop Q) between 04:30 hrs and 05:15 hrs on Thursday, 20 March. The bus stop is served by buses 2, 3, 196, 415, 432, N2 & N3.
Police believe Troy was selling packets of crisps in the area, including to people at the bus stop. Detective Chief Inspector Brian Howie, leading the investigation, urged:
“Did you see Troy that evening? This may seem like an insignificant detail but it could help us piece together the events of that night.”

DCI Howie emphasized the importance of community support:
“We are making significant progress in our investigation, but we still need information. Please help us provide Troy’s family with the answers they need.
Tomorrow marks the two-week anniversary of Troy’s death, and police will be conducting a witness appeal at 04:00 hrs on Brixton Road. Officers will be present to speak to anyone who may have information.
Incident Recap
Police were called to Brixton Road, SW9 at approximately 05:10 hrs on Thursday, 20 March after reports of a man suffering a stab injury. Despite the efforts of officers and the London Ambulance Service, 34-year-old Troy Ramsundar was pronounced dead at the scene.
A man has since been charged with Troy’s murder, but investigators are still piecing together the full sequence of events.
