A devastating house fire in Tillett Close, Stonebridge, has claimed the lives of four people, including a woman and three young boys, prompting a major investigation by the Metropolitan Police and London Fire Brigade.
Emergency services were called to the scene at 01:22 AM on Saturday, May 24, where a 43-year-old woman and three boys, aged 15, 8, and 4, were sadly pronounced dead.
Tragic Loss of Life
The London Ambulance Service transported two additional people to hospital, and their conditions are currently unknown. The victims’ next of kin have been informed, and police say their thoughts are with the family at this unimaginably difficult time.
Arrest Made at the Scene
A 41-year-old man was arrested at the scene in connection with the incident and remains in police custody. Investigators are working to establish the cause of the fire, and emergency services will remain in the area as the investigation continues.
Superintendent Steve Allen of the Met’s local policing team said:
“This is an extremely tragic incident and our thoughts are with everyone involved. We continue to work alongside the London Fire Brigade to determine how this fire started.”
