In a surprising turn of events, Daniel Khalife, a former soldier who had been the subject of public attention in the Chiswick area, was arrested on Rowdell Road in Greenford, north-west London, according to Commander Dominic Murphy. The arrest was executed by a plainclothes police officer.
Khalife’s arrest occurred while he was riding a bicycle near the canal. An officer approached him and successfully pulled him off the bike, subsequently detaining him. Commander Dominic Murphy noted that Khalife was fully cooperative once he had been stopped.
The unexpected location of Khalife’s arrest has raised questions regarding his movements and the circumstances that led to his escape from jail. Previously, a member of the public had spotted him in the Chiswick area. Ruth Planting, a 44-year-old eyewitness, told BBC News of her encounter with Khalife, stating that he appeared out of place in black clothes. She mentioned, “He looked at me like very odd because there was nobody there on the street, but my brain didn’t switch on.”
However, at the time of her observation, Ms. Planting did not realise that the man she had encountered was Khalife and, therefore, did not report the sighting to the police.
The reasons behind Khalife’s presence in these areas and the circumstances surrounding his escape remain a subject of investigation by the authorities.
