At 11:17 a.m. on Thursday, June 16, 2022, Kent Police were called to Railway Street, where a man had an injury consistent with a stab wound. He was taken to a London hospital and is now in stable condition.
Ahmed Moborat, of Byron Road, Gillingham, was arrested later that day in connection with the incident.
The 18-year-old was later charged with wounding and public possession of a bladed article.
On Friday, June 17, the suspect appeared before Medway Magistrates’ Court and was remanded to a hearing at Maidstone Crown Court on July 15.
PC ‘Our officers are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident and are urging witnesses who have not yet spoken to police to call the appeal line,’ said Catherine Barker of Medway CID.
‘We are also asking motorists who have dashcams and residents who have private CCTV to look for footage from around the time of the incident that may help the investigation.’
