Police have launched an urgent investigation after five people were seriously injured in a stabbing attack during an event in Thamesmead, southeast London, in the early hours of Saturday morning.
Incident on Nathan Way
Emergency services were called to Nathan Way, SE28, at 04:19am on Saturday, 17 May, following reports of multiple people injured.
Officers from the Metropolitan Police and crews from the London Ambulance Service attended the scene and discovered five individuals suffering from stab wounds.
All five victims were transported to hospital, where their injuries are currently being assessed. Their conditions have not yet been confirmed.
Cordon in Place as Enquiries Continue
A police cordon remains in place at the scene, with forensic teams conducting a thorough search of the area. The Met confirmed that enquiries are ongoing to determine the full circumstances of the attack.
The motive behind the incident and whether it was gang-related or a targeted attack is not yet clear.

This incident is the latest in a series of violent assaults in the capital, amid growing concern over knife crime. According to the Office for National Statistics, knife-related offences in London rose by 7% in the year ending March 2024.
