A grass fire broke out on a railway embankment near Maidstone Road in Borough Green today, prompting a swift response from emergency services.
Kent Fire and Rescue Service received the call at 12:23pm Wednesday, 26 March 2025 and dispatched four fire engines to the scene. Crews used main jet hoses to bring the fire under control and extinguish the flames.
The incident occurred close to railway tracks, triggering the involvement of Kent Police, a Network Rail officer, and a Rail Incident Officer as a precautionary measure to assess potential risks to rail services and infrastructure.
The fire was fully extinguished by 2:11pm, and there were no reported injuries. The cause of the blaze remains unknown at this time.
A spokesperson for Kent Fire and Rescue Service said:
"Crews worked quickly and effectively to extinguish a grass fire on a railway embankment near Maidstone Road. Partner agencies including Kent Police and Network Rail also attended to support the response."
