In an unusual rescue mission, firefighters from the Stourbridge team in the West Midlands were called to assist Jeremy, a Beagle puppy who had gotten himself into a precarious situation. The adventurous pup managed to get his head stuck in a garden wall at his home on Farndale Close, Brierley Hill, prompting a call for help from his concerned owner.
The incident occurred yesterday morning, and after approximately 30 minutes of unsuccessful attempts to free Jeremy, his owner reached out to the West Midlands Fire Service for assistance. In a swift response, Watch Manager Brett Mortimer and his team arrived at the scene within four minutes of the call.
Describing the rescue operation, Watch Manager Brett Mortimer emphasized the importance of quick thinking and the care of the animal in such situations. He explained, “We deal with all manner of incidents, and a job like this is about quick-thinking and care of the animal. It only took us around a minute to release Jeremy. We wrapped a protective cover around his head and ears, and freed him using manual manipulation.”
Despite the ordeal, Jeremy emerged from the incident unharmed and in good spirits. The crew ensured that there were no signs of injury before leaving the scene. Jeremy’s owner expressed relief and gratitude for the firefighters’ prompt response and successful rescue of their beloved pet.
