The family of Julia Skala, a 16-year-old girl who has been missing from her home in Mitcham, is making an emotional plea for her to get in touch and assure them of her safety.
Julia, who left her residence at approximately 1pm on Monday, 8 January, has not been seen or heard from since that day. Her family is deeply concerned and anxious about her whereabouts.
In a heartfelt message, they implore Julia to make contact: “Julia, you are loved and missed terribly. No matter what the reason was for you to leave, you aren’t in any kind of trouble, and we just want to know you are safe. Please, just let someone know you are okay.”
At the time of her disappearance, Julia was dressed in a black North Face jacket, black trousers, and white Nike trainers. She was also carrying a black Nike rucksack.
Her mother reported her missing on the morning of Tuesday, 9 January, prompting an immediate investigation by the Police.
Detective Chief Superintendent Clair Kelland, who oversees policing for Merton, expressed the extensive efforts undertaken to locate Julia: “Since Julia was reported missing, our officers have been working around the clock to try and find her. We have gathered and examined hours of CCTV and doorbell footage, spoken to many people who know her, and carried out inquiries with those who live in the area to establish whether they have any information that might help our investigation.
Julia’s prolonged absence from home is highly unusual, and concerns are mounting regarding her well-being. Despite no evidence indicating harm, her lack of communication is deeply worrisome. She did not take her mobile phone with her, and there has been no activity on social media or known contact with her friends. Moreover, it is believed she left without a credit or travel card and with no cash on hand.
While residing in Mitcham, Julia also has connections to Lambeth, Camden, and Islington. Authorities suspect she may have used public transport to reach these areas.
Anyone with information regarding Julia’s whereabouts is urged to contact the police immediately at 999, quoting reference 24MIS000879. Non-urgent information can be shared by calling 101.
