In an unexpected turn of events, exit polls suggest that the left-wing New Popular Front (NFP) coalition has won the most seats in the second round of France’s parliamentary elections. This outcome defies earlier predictions that Marine Le Pen’s far-right National Rally (RN) party would emerge as the dominant force in French politics.
According to an IFOP estimate for broadcaster TF1, the NFP could secure between 180 and 215 seats in parliament. Similarly, an Ipsos poll for France TV projected 172-215 seats for the left-wing bloc. These results place the NFP ahead of both President Emmanuel Macron’s centrist group and the National Rally.
