Exclusive:Police Vehicles Worth 250K Written Off after Serious Police Chase on M27 in Hampshire
Four Police vehicle have been damaged and written off following a Police chase on the M27 in Hampshire in the early hours of this morning. It is understood that the vehicle were involved in a tactical pursuit measure in an attempt to stop a black honda that had no insurance between junction one and junction two of the Eastbound M27 just after 2am on Sunday morning. A number of people have been arrested and two of those is unclear if they are Police officer or those beingcarried in the uninsured vehicle have been taken to hospital. https://youtu.be/DzKQUwbocd4 One of the marked BMW X5 has come to rest on the central reservation missing its rear axle and whilst two other Police Vehicles a Marked BMW X5 and a BMW 530 can be seen boxing in the black Honda accord. 50 meters up the road a fifth BMW X5 is missing its rear axle on the hard shoulder of the M27. It is also understood that a red peugeot was struck whilst officers where attempting to carry out a rolling block on the vehicle. Armed Police officer also attended the incident but it is not thought any weapons where drawn Highways England have advised that they are not expected to have the road return to them by Police and reopened before 12pm.Major Road Closure The eastbound section of the carriageway between junctions 1 and 2 is expected to be closed for the remainder of the morning with diversions in place towards Southampton through Totton. Three police vehicles were damaged during a pursuit to stop a black Honda Accord which had failed to stop after it was seen driving dangerously causing a risk to other members of the public. The high speed collision took place after the Honda Accord came into contact with the police vehicles. Thankfully no-one was seriously injured. The driver of the Honda Accord, a 58 year-old man, has been arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving, failing to stop, and driving while under the influence of excessive alcohol. He has been taken to Southampton General Hospital to be checked over for his injuries.
