A former Sussex Police officer is set to appear in court this week on charges of fraud and conspiracy to pervert the course of justice. Seren Sriganesh, 23, will face allegations at Guildford Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, accused of failing to disclose six or more penalty points on his driving licence and neglecting to report these points to his motor insurers, according to a statement by the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC).
The charges also include claims that Sriganesh falsely nominated his parents as the responsible parties for three separate driving offences between September 2020 and November 2023. Additionally, he is accused of accessing police systems to view details of one of the speeding offences.
The IOPC launched its investigation in May after a referral from Sussex Police. Sriganesh, who resigned from the force earlier this month, now faces charges of conspiracy to pervert the course of justice, conspiracy to commit fraud by false representation, two counts of fraud by failing to disclose information and unlawfully obtaining personal data.
This case underscores the importance of transparency and accountability within law enforcement, with the IOPC continuing to examine any potential misconduct within the policing community.
