A convicted murderer who escaped from a Pennsylvania prison more than a week ago has reportedly altered his appearance in an apparent attempt to evade capture. Law enforcement authorities have released new images showing the fugitive after a recent sighting, revealing that he has shaven his beard and moustache.
The escaped inmate has been identified as Danelo Cavalcante, aged 34, who is now clean-shaven. In the photographs released by police, Cavalcante can be seen wearing a hooded sweatshirt, a black baseball cap, green prison pants, and white shoes. These images were apparently captured by security cameras on the front porch of a residence.
Cavalcante’s latest sighting occurred near the town of Phoenixville, situated approximately 30 miles northwest of Philadelphia, on Saturday night. His escape from Chester County Prison took place on August 31 in the same region, where he had been awaiting transfer to a state prison to serve a life sentence for the murder of his ex-girlfriend.
Pennsylvania State Police have provided additional information, indicating that Cavalcante was operating a 2020 white Ford Transit van equipped with a refrigeration unit on top. They have urged the public to immediately contact law enforcement if they spot the escaped convict.
Furthermore, it has come to light that Cavalcante, originally a Brazilian national, is also a suspect in a 2017 murder case in Brazil, as reported by the U.S. Marshals.
Multiple sightings of Cavalcante have been reported since his escape, creating significant concern in the region. Last week, local school districts decided to cancel classes for a day following one such sighting.
Authorities have responded to the situation by offering a substantial reward of up to $20,000 for any information leading to the successful capture of Danelo Cavalcante. The manhunt continues as law enforcement agencies work diligently to bring this fugitive to justice.
