Emergency services have launched a major response following reports of people entering the water at Romney Place in Maidstone.
Kent Fire and Rescue Service received the call at 12.58pm today (Wednesday 9 April) and swiftly deployed four fire engines to the scene, along with the service’s dedicated water safety unit.
Crews are currently in attendance and are being supported by the search and rescue dog team, which is assisting in efforts to locate any individuals who may be in the water.
The incident remains ongoing, and no further details have yet been confirmed regarding the number of people involved or any injuries sustained.
Residents are being urged to avoid the area to allow emergency services to carry out their work safely and efficiently.
