Police were called on September 18 after a patient reportedly attacked another at a hospital. Andrew Farmer, from Ealing, was found with serious injuries. He later died in hospital on September 25.
Suspect Arrested and Charged
A 70-year-old man was arrested at the scene shortly after the assault. Anatoliy Podmazko, who has no fixed address, was charged with grievous bodily harm on September 20. He is due to appear at england/england/isleworth/”>isleworth/”>Isleworth Crown Court on Friday, 17 October.
Family Mourns, Police Continue Investigation
Andrew’s family have been informed and are receiving support from specialist officers. Detective Inspector Kirsten Hadleigh, leading the probe, said: “Our thoughts remain with Andrew’s family and friends at this undoubtedly difficult time. We remain in close contact with Andrew’s loved ones and are Keepingkeeping them up to date with the progress of our investigation.”
Andrew’s partner, Paul Wrigley, paid tribute:
“My partner through thick and thin for 60 years. Now sadly missed. ‘An Oxford First – whatever he touched, he touched deeply – opera, Devon topography, the underprivileged. Scholarly but with a wry sense of humour. Rest now, my dear friend.”
