The Metropolitan Police confirmed they were called by the London Ambulance Service at 10.00am on Thursday, 4 September, to reports of a pedestrian being struck by a vehicle in Shotfield. This was indeed the same event where the elderly man died after the collision in Wallington.
The man was taken to hospital in a life-threatening condition but, despite the efforts of medical staff, he sadly died later that evening. The tragic news of the elderly man’s death after the car park collision in Wallington spread quickly through the area.
“Police were called by the London Ambulance Service at 10.00hrs on Thursday, 4 September to reports of a collision between a pedestrian and a vehicle in a car park in Shotfield, Wallington.
“An 80-year-old man was taken to hospital in a life-threatening condition. Later that evening he sadly died.
“No arrests have been made and enquiries continue.”
